Central Imenti Launches KSh 30 Million Bursary to Support Students

Students from needy families in Central Imenti Constituency have received a major boost following the launch of the 2025/2026 NG-CDF bursary program, aimed at supporting learners in both secondary schools and tertiary institutions.

The bursary was officially launched on Monday, March 9, 2026, by the National Government Constituencies Development Fund Constituency Committee (NG-CDFC) as the first tranche of the 2025/2026 financial year. A total of KSh 30,000,000 (Thirty Million Shillings) has been allocated to benefit 7,600 students across the constituency.

The occasion was graced by Hon. Dorothy Muthoni, a nominated Member of Parliament, and the area Member of Parliament Hon. Kirima Nguchine, who reaffirmed their commitment to supporting education and ensuring that no learner is left behind due to financial constraints.

Central Imenti Constituency is made up of four wards: Abothuguchi West, Kiagu, Abothuguchi Central, and Mwanganthia. The constituency has a strong education network with 45 secondary schools, comprising 34 day secondary schools and 11 boarding secondary schools, serving thousands of learners in the area.

Through the bursary program, the NG-CDFC aims to support students pursuing education in secondary schools as well as tertiary institutions, ensuring continuity in learning for those advancing to colleges and universities.

Leaders present during the launch emphasized that the bursary initiative is meant to ease the financial burden on parents and guardians while enabling students to remain focused on their studies. The fund also seeks to enhance retention of learners in school and improve academic performance over the years.

Parents and education stakeholders welcomed the initiative, noting that the financial assistance will go a long way in helping students stay in school and achieve their academic goals.

The NG-CDF committee reiterated that continued investment in education remains a priority for the constituency, as it plays a critical role in empowering young people and fostering sustainable development in Central Imenti. 🎓📚
